Varanus baritjiis found in the northeastern area of the Northern Territory.
Varanus baritjiis a moderate-sized member of theV. acanthurusspecies complex.
It has an elongate body and a characteritic tail that is round in section anteriorly and triangular in section at midlength.
The tail has two keeled median crests.
Dorsal surface of head and neck brown, rarely with dark spots.
Dorsum is uniformly ochre with occasionnal black spots, forming sometimes a reticulate pattern or rings.
Absence of yellow and black striping on the neck.
Lemon-yellow gular region.
Tail with alternance of black and light brown bands.
