Modified from Stenzel (1904). Auricular sinus is the recess formed between the auricular lobe of the dorsal fibrous cap and the vascular zone. Originally the state absent only in the central part was not described but auricular sinus is not observed in some central parts, particularly in those of the Corypha-Type and Mauritia-Type
