Gould's goanna or sand monitor.

Distribution: Found in most parts of continental Australia except the extreme south-east and the forests of the east. Southern New Guinea.

Subspecies: gouldii (continental Australia except arid interior); flavirifus (arid interior of Australia).

Nuchal pattern : without transverse dark bands
Pattern of the end of tail : uniform pale yellow or white
Dorsal pattern : absence of transverse rows of large dark spots
Ventral pattern : randomly scattered dark spots
